Troopers will be providing overnight patrol and investigatory coverage for Collingdale Borough beginning Thursday, Oct. 31, according to a news release. That coverage will be ongoing until further notice.

State police will cover the borough from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m., the news release states.

The Collingdale Police Department is experiencing an extreme staffing shortage with their officers unable to "safely and adequately meet the full-time police coverage requirements until hiring and training of additional qualified police officers can be completed," according to the news release.

Donna Matteo-Spadea, the mayor of Collingdale, made the request to state police on Sunday, Oct. 27, the news release states.
